Many files I use are in .xlsb format.
Couldn't agree more. Xlsb files tend to be much smaller than zipped xlsx files, and are therefore very convenient when exchanging large spreadsheets.
I would like to add to this, that our firm also uses .xlsb for most large Excel files. We would also like the ability to output to .xlsb.
Absoolutely! This would be a wonderful addition. We have been able to pull in data from ".xlsb" files, but not able to create them...it would be most helpful to be able to create .xlsb directly from Alteryx.
Client data is starting to come in this format by default, adding this feature would be custom-centric and a competitieve advantage.
+ 1 for XLSB.
Is there any copyright issue holding this back?
Want to add another vote for this.
XLSB is the default method of file transfer for any excel files within our organization, so this would be a very nice addition!
+1. Until there is native support, I just wanted to add that you can use the legacy driver ("Microsoft Excel Legacy (*.xlsx)") on the file format option and that will read .xlsb files successfully. It still involves several extra clicks, and I haven't yet figured out how to write to xlsb; so native support would be great. If you don't have the legacy driver, this post *may* help. I put a sample workflow in the public gallery: https://gallery.alteryx.com/#!app/XLSB-example/57582003a248970bdc39e572.
Hope that helps!

Thank you very much for inow including the XLSM format input for Alteryx, that is something that I needed for a while, but as I have other clients you us the XLSB, excel binary format, I need to find a way to input that into Alteryx and right back into it.
Please consider making this on a possibility on your next release.
Thank you
Phoenix Capital would also like to see this format supported. Thanks, Dan
+1 for .XLSB
Agreed. This is very much needed.
+1 for .xlsb support.
@PoornimaF Does this qualify as sufficient customer demand?
Does it have anything to do with licences? Is xlsb a proprietary, undocumented format, while xlsx is a more open (in fact it's a kinf of xml) format?
Hi @FFFool,
I've notified our Data Platforms PM about this request and she will be evaluating this request. Thank you for the notification!
Best,
Poornima
Hi @levell_x_dunn,
Thanks for the idea- I'm marking it as a duplicate based on this post: http://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Product-Ideas/Add-support-of-xlsb-file-format-as-input-file-type/idi-p/1750.
We are currently evaluating this for a post-11.0 release.
Alex
I also need to read .xlsb files
Agreed. Need input and output of xlsb files.
We use xlsb files all the time. Definitely need this feature sooner rather than later.
Yes, please can we have xlsb files support. We use this extensively.
Dear Alteryx,
Is there already a plan to implement support for input and output of .xlsb in the next release? What is the status of these requests?
We also use it extensively.
Hello,
I need support for the same files. Please think of implementing that in the software in the future.
Bump, also a need here
I also use a lot of binary files...
+1 need to read xlsb file
