I have over 150 XLS files and it used to be able to input into alteryx without any issue.
But this month it appears to be having this issue, where if I open the file manually thru excel, it prompt me this window. It still was able to open and read the file, just that it wasnt the usual format like the other file.
However if I open in alteryx, it prompt me this, and I cannot open the file.
Anyone encountered this issue?
I did my homework also, but the main issue now is alteryx wont be able to read it, left alone converting it to XLSX.

try download this driver to solve the issue
I had this driver installed already..
Hi @terrellchong ,
This is telling you your file is corrupted. This is an Excel problem, not an Alteryx problem.
open it in Excel, resolve the problem and save the file.
I would recommend the following:
1. Stop using Excel.
2. If you HAVE to use Excel, save it as an XLSX format if possible.
The problem might be to do with merged cells within the cell range you have specified.

Hi @mceleavey ,
Understand where you're coming from, but these files are not generated by me, but by clients instead.
Previously I did it by manually open up the XLS file, rearrange it, and save it as xlsx.
but that was like only 6 files, and 2 of them was corrupted.
now with 150+ files, im afraid that I cannot do the manual checking file by file
if this is the case, can alteryx actually pinpoint which file is corrupted? at least i can generate a list to ask client to re-send it to me..
@terrellchong Do you have a dummy for us or could you adjust 1 of 150 to include only dummy data and "feed" it to us haha :-)?
Hi @terrellchong ,
the first step would be to feed back to the client that the files are corrupt. Get them to resolve the issue at source. The last thing we want is human intervention, as this will no doubt lead to increased workload and errors.
Second, you could try loading in the entire sheet rather than a range of cells and then handling the rest in Alteryx.
Other than that, you would need to provide us with a batch of the files, some that work and some that don't so we can try and come up with a workaround.
