TS Forecasting Workflow help

I am working on producing a TS workflow.  I have annual sales data for several different products.  I am trying to forecast future sales data.  I am noticing my data is showing linear forecasting and is not using the ETS approach I selected.  the charts don't decompose down into seasonality and trends like their supposed to.  I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how to fix.  Do I need more data for that to occur?  Does that analysis require more frequent time interval such as monthly?
