Solved: Union Tool - Errors on joining empty inputs

Hi, 

I am using the union to bring 5 different figures that I have summarised together (see screenshot). Sometimes some of these are blank. In the case below only #2 has data. As such the entire output is empty. 

Is there a way to get the output for this?

Hi @furlonla,

I think you can use the dummy data in order to make this union work. Just join a text input with the same headers to make this union works.

I am not sure if there is easier workaround for your problem but maybe some other people will have other suggestions 🙂

Union tool should work even if some of the streams are not passing data.

Hi @furlonla,

Yes it will. You can put some dummy data inside that you can filter out after union tool so you will be sure that workflow will continue uninterrupted.

I understand the text input tool. But do I need to join this to each tool that has no data?

You need to add this before the union tool that isn't working for you.

I don't know a better way of doing this sorry.

@furlonla  yes it is advisable to connect to all streams which is needed even though there is no data coming.
