Save and use Variable

Hi, I use a Summarize to return the last date from base.
I need to save this date ia a Variable.

How can I make this?

Hi @Cpirino,

I believe you will find the answer here: https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Designer-Discussions/Dynamic-Filter-from-Field-Values/td-p/...

Depending on your orientation of your data, you may need to transform it before joining. But the rule is essentially to have that variable coming out the summarize joined (or appended!) to your data, so you can filter for "[Column X] = [Column Y]"

Hi @Cpirino

The trick here is to use the Append Tool to add the variable date as a new field. Using the variable is now the same as referring to the field name. If you share the workflow, I can show you if you're still having difficulties.

You need to bring the variable into your data stream with the Append Fields widget, perform the filter, then you can remove the variable from your stream with Select.

To add to this, you do not necessarily require the Append and Filter tools

By using a join (in the example from @SoccerTil ) on [birthDate] = [maxBirthDate], you will be applying a filter by using the join tool.

If I use Append Fields the process will be very slow

Have you tried using the join?
