Hi all!! I am reaching out for your support! As per my knowledge, Alteryx doesn’t have an inbuilt single out-of-the-box tool to directly compare two multi-tab Excel files and highlight changes. But this is definetely something that would add a lot of value to a lot of our community!
I think we could approach it the following way maybe?:
1. Input Data - using two Input Data tools, one for each Excel file. We would then check the “Output File Name as Field” option when reading all sheets and then enable “Import only sheet names” to first dynamically loop through all sheets.
2. Dynamic Input + Macro in batch- we could use the directory tool and a Batch Macro with the dynamic Input tool to loop through each tab from both files? Would this work?
And then we could create a single macro comparing both inputs trough a join tool, matching by key fields (which could just be all headers existing on file A?
We could use formula tool to create flags for differences? And the filter to isolate and report the changes
Okay, and if we want to master this even more, we could create a macro app that takes two file paths and runs the logic, using the interface tools to let user input the files? Step by step, anyone happy to work collaboratively on this project?
