Just wondering if someone can help me by either referring me to an article at or a simple workflow to give me some insight.  It seems simple enough but am struggling a bit.

Use Cross Tab tool to perform what you want.

 

See how I reversed back and got what you wanted wtih Transpose and Cross Tab tool.
