Password for macro

Hi All

I have built a macro in Alteryx. The thing is that I have been working on a solution and I do not necessarily want other people from my team know the solution in the macro. 

Is there a way to password protect macro from opening and only leave it for use?

Hi @Kingazawora you can lock the macro by going here Options > Advanced Options > Lock Workflow

Here you will get the option of where to save your locked macro.

@Dhrish is correct in the locking of the workflow, however you should note that once its locked it cannot be unlocked...

Yes, a simple way to handle the locking is to save a copy that is unlocked in a secure location and then lock the macro used for shared workflows. Version control is important here.

I've not seen anything. What is the drawback for you using the locked macro method?

So if I lock it - sent it - the person can use it as part of workflow but never open that macro, right?

That's right, just remember to keep an unlocked copy safe somewhere in case you need to tinker with it/fix issues
