Maintaining DataSources in Desktop and Server

Hi Team,

 

I was studying about "Server Data Connection" in Alteryx Server - Admin Page and "DCM" in Alteryx Server - User Page.

 

We are setting up a standard practice for DataSource management and both the methods has it's own pros and cons.

 

The Datasource should be maintained by ADMIN at server level and desktop should use the connection from server for development.

 

If we have same Datasource name (Pointing to different database in prod and dev Alteryx server) during the promotion the user should not open the input tool and make modification but simple Save as to different Server and the workflow should work. Is this possible?
