Input/Output in Tools Properties missing

Just upgraded to latest version (10.5.9) and it seems the input/output display of fields/data type in the tool properties is missing.  Is there a way to enable them?  

I'm referring to the "Input Output" stated here:  http://help.alteryx.com/9.5/Getting_Started/ToolProperties.htm

You can 1) click on the connection (line) between two tools to see the fields/data types or 2) click on metadata in the results window. This second option is only available after the workflow has been run (and then it only updates after you run again), so I'm sticking the first method.

It's listed as a key feature on the download's page: 

• Tool metadata and messages have been moved from the tool’s Properties window to the Results window.
