Fuzzy Match Alphanumeric Key

Does anyone know how the alphanumeric only key generation method in the Fuzzy Match tool works? Is it the first x amount of characters? Knowing this will allow me to improve my user's experience in an app!

  • Alphanumeric Only (Case Insensitive): Looks only at alphanumeric characters to make a match. Case is ignored.

After looking at a few samples the answer is basically yes where x is small (1-3). I don't know the answer as x becomes larger.
