Hi All!
With SharePoint specifically, is it possible to create a DCM connection on the Server instead of creating the DCM on the desktop and then syncing to the server?
I am looking to build workflows using the DCM interface designer tool since I want individuals to be able to select their own credentials. I have had no issues with those having Desktop licenses as they just can create the DCM SharePoint credential on the Desktop then sync to the Server. Additionally, I know of the option to simply share DCM credentials for collaboration or for execution. However, these options are not optimal due to security and governance reasons at my company. From what I have seen so far, it seems the issue is related to the Server not having the same “Connect” button on the connections in the DCM after creating a Data Source/Credential Pair.
Any guidance on this would be much appreciated!

Hi @jarodaj,
I am not sure if this will answer your question but I thought it was worth sharing this other discussion around the same topic. Hopefully, I am sending you in the right direction.

Hi FlaviaB!
Unfortunately, I was able to meet with an Alteryx representative, and they let me know the only way around this issue appears to be a custom Azure App.

Thank you for following up, @jarodaj. At least you were able to figure out the "issue," and this thread could help other users with the same question. 😊

i - just found this thread, Im looking at how to setup connections to Sharepoint so workflows can run on the server. We can set up DCM connection in Designer but then they are unmanageable - only the designer who created the connection can edit it or add/remove users. Not practical! I tried to setup a DCM connection from server as a Service account, that way we could share the credentials, but it seems I ran into the same issues, there is no connect button, the only connection option is Username and Password - even if you use that and share it back to a user who has Designer, they cant use it! So it seems we cant use DCM.... I then tried in designer to create a non DCM connection to SharePoint, this worked on my local designer, but gave a cant authenticate error when running on the server. So it seems we are stuck in a catch 22 situation

Definitely seems like we are in a similar situation with no ideal solution at this point. If I am able to figure something out, I will revisit and post it here, and please do the same on your end if able!
