Converting Latin characters

I have Portuguese source data containing Latin characters, in Excel files.  I want to convert these to characters in the basic Latin alaphabet, so they won't cause problems downstream in reports etc.

Examples: PortuµRios, Manipulação, Fia€ço

I've experimented with ConvertfromCodePage and ConverttoCodePage but didn't manage to get this result.  Is there a way I can do this in Alteryx without creating a set of substitution rules?  Or failing that, is there a reference available I could use to achieve this?
