The Story
Back in late 2018, I was introduced to Alteryx, and I must admit that I had no prior knowledge of this tool's existence. My lack of awareness about the latest tools in the market is to blame. However, I quickly developed a strong affinity for Alteryx and discovered numerous ways that it could enhance our operations by overcoming the limitations of other tools. Since then, Alteryx has helped me to solve complex problems, merge data from multiple sources seamlessly (which was previously a tedious and time-consuming task with the tools we had) and automate many manual processes.
My fondness for Alteryx gradually evolved into a passion. Things took a momentous turn when I attended a user group meeting just before Inspire 2020. I felt a strong desire to become a user group leader, although I was initially apprehensive and nervous. This was uncharted territory for me, and I was embarking on something entirely new. Nonetheless, I currently serve as one of the user group leaders of the Sydney user group.
This opportunity also presented itself in my current organization, where I started an internal Alteryx user group or an Alteryx community of practice. This allowed all Alteryx users to come together, exchange ideas and knowledge, and learn from each other. In my current role, I train non-technical users and serve as a point of contact for anything and everything Alteryx-related. This includes establishing best practices, managing the environment, and assisting others in their analytical journeys.
Moreover, I am eager to share what I have learned with others. As a result, I began writing technical blogs on the Alteryx community.
The Impact
Alteryx has presented me with opportunities and avenues that were beyond my imagination, and I wholeheartedly embraced them. Through user groups and the SparkED program, I have been able to make a real difference in the lives of others. The SparkED program, in particular, is something that is very dear to my heart. When I learned about it, I knew instantly that I wanted to be a part of it. So, I contacted the APJ SparkED program manager Cheryl Lie (@Cheryl_Alteryx) from Singapore and expressed my interest to Libby Duane Adams (@LDuane) during Inspire 2022. Two months later, I found myself at the University of Sydney, conducting an Alteryx Designer session for a group of enthusiastic students at their business analytics wing. The experience was phenomenal, and I felt like I was contributing to something significant by helping these students develop essential analytics skills that are critical in today's world. I am eagerly anticipating my next session.
Alteryx has undoubtedly had a positive impact on both my professional and personal life. It is a gratifying experience when individuals whom I have never met before approach me to discuss Alteryx and how it can assist them in their analytics journey. I am excitedly anticipating the next chapter of my life with Alteryx!
