Bur the last step, can be done with one tool!
In the GUI, you can't select concatenate on a numeric field like RecordID, but if you add/replicate the Concat logic in the XML file for the component, then it works!

Funny thing though, once you have forced the concat logic on the numeric field, then it can be modified in the GUI
