Alteryx Strategic Analytics 8.5 introduced multiple tools for Market Basket Analysis and A/B Testing. Both are great at helping you understand what’s already working and what you should do. Ultimately they enable you to understand your customers even better.

 

But you shouldn’t overlook additional tools that are now able in our Professional Edition, Personal Edition, as well as with our free Project Edition. These tools help you understand and prep your data even more efficiently before you plunge into predictive analytics.  

 

The new Multi-field Binning tool enables you to take your data and break into multiple sets - sets that you can use to test out the accuracy of various predictive models.

The Inpute tool (yes you read that right: inpute = combination of input and compute) enables you to update records with a specified value or insert the mean/median calculated from other records in that dataset. Age would be an example where there might not be a value, but would be useful to have when analyzing customer segments.

The new Frequency Table tool provides a summary for the selected field, including how often each value appears, and what percentage that represents of your overall total. So for instance in a collection of customer transactions, ‘Colorado’ could appear 350 times in the ‘State’ field, and make up 1.1% of all the values observed.

The Histogram tool provides a way for you to take numerical data and create a chart to show you how the values are distributed.

 

The tools I mentioned above can be useful for more than predictive analytics. Try them out with Alteryx Strategic Analytics 8.5 to learn more about your data!
