Alteryx Strategic Analytics 8.5 introduces a number of new capabilities to our core platform. One that’s been getting a lot of attention is the new interactive mapping functionality – and with good reason. It gives you and your business users an extremely intuitive way to access strategic analytics.
Simply put, users can now select from or draw one or more points, lines, and polygons as an input. So instead of typing in a specific address, they can now click anywhere on the map and use that location as an input. To see an example of that, check out the New Homes Finder application in the Alteryx Analytics Gallery. Being able to draw custom trade areas just got easier with the ability to quickly outline new areas on-the-fly with custom polygons. And if you wanted to provide execs with the demographic details of customers within a 3 mile radius of a store, that just got much easier. Click-click-calculate.
Interactive Mapping with Alteryx is not just about beauty. You also get access to powerful analytics. So your applications will be even simpler to use, but still produce sophisticated analytics. Imagine allowing users to draw their own custom trade areas and then run predictive analytics to estimate potential sales for key customer segments for the next six months. The Alteryx Analytics Gallery makes it even better. We introduced the Gallery with Alteryx Strategic Analytics 8.0 in the Fall of 2012. It lets you securely deploy and share analytics in the cloud. You will even want to use it even if you’re not sharing analytics. The Gallery works with all of the major browsers available, including Chrome, Firefox, and IE. This makes it possible for you to run analytics from the couch without having to crack open your laptop. And now your users can access interactive mapping on-the-go. Standing in front of an empty storefront, they can use their smart tablet’s auto-locate functionality and get instant analytics for consumers within a 10 minute drive time. Standing on a hilltop, a telecomm company rep can get a read on upsell potential for households within a two-mile range.
