Renaming Columns within designer

Is there a way to rename columns brought in from an Excel file with multiple sheets or must that be done manually before inputting the sheets into designer?

You can rename or deselect them by using Select Tool

You can also do it a dynamic way by building up a list of renames that you want to apply and using the Dynamic Rename Tool.  

Input columns contains the data that you want to rename and the Final names has a pair of columns, [OldName] and [NewName] which contain the old column name and the new that you want it renamed to. 

The Dynamic Rename is very flexible, but in this case we'll use "Take Field Names from Right Input Rows".    In the properties, set the Old Field Name from Column is [OldName] from the R input and New Field Name from Column to [NewName].
