How to parce data with no delimiters into 3 equal columns

Hello everyone,

I have read the text column tool example but did not see how you could split a single column into 3 separate columns.

The data is 6 digits long and I want to break up the number into 3 separate columns.

Is the text to column tool the right one to use or is there another one that I can use?

Thanks.

You could use a formula tool, then place a substring function to create a new column. For example if you wanted to convert "abcdef" into 3 columns, 2 characters wide, you would use the following formulas:

SubString([Field1],0,2)

Substring([Field1],2,2)

Substring([Field1],4,2)

Thanks for the suggestion I will try it out tomorrow.
