Google Sheet import tool truncates text to 254 even with V_WString size 1073741823

I have a Google Sheet import tool that successfully imports the sheet (all columns, all rows), but is truncating some fields to 254 characters even though it recognizes those fields as V_WString size 1073741823.  I need the entire string to import into my workflow, as I need to set downstream functions in the workflow that will search a field (employee name) in one table and look for it in the string (which could be combination of employees separated by commas).  Without the full text string imported in, it's DOA.  Is there a setting I'm missing (I have scoured every possible click on the screen)?  I've scoured the Community and can't find a similar question asked.
