We have been facing issues in which when we try to run some heavy workflow on Alteryx Designer it crashes while being in an execution state. We tried on increasing the memory of our system to 16GB but the issue still persists. Even the CPU utilization wasn't that high.
So we wanted to enable the log file generation so that we can check in the logs with the exact issue when the crash happens.
However, to enable log file generation in Alteryx Designer, we were not able to find the "System Settings" option from where we can enable it.
It would be great if you can provide the guidance for enabling the log file generation in Alteryx and also the possible reasons for the crash.
Hi @prateekvarshney logging in Designer is in User Settings (Options - User Settings - Edit User Settings). System settings is avaiable on the windows server hosting your Alteryx server if you have that product.
Hi @JosephSerpis,
Thanks for your response.
I provided the Logging Directory from the User settings and even clicked on the checkbox for "Run Designer x64 at a lower priority". However, when I tried running a test workflow, it ran successfully but a message "Unable to create log file".
What are the likely causes for it not being able to generate log files?
Can you please provide the reasons why Alteryx Designer is not able to create the log file.
