Analytics as an Equalizer Research | Share Your Thoughts!
We are very excited to be launching a research campaign for Women of Analytics, 2019! This process will include developing a survey, sending it to our users, and then releasing the anonymized data to our Community to analyze.
We would like to involve the Women of Analytics in every step of the process.
To help guide the development of the survey, we would love to know what kind of topics and questions on diversity and equality in analytics you’d like to explore. Please post your ideas here!
In the meantime, I’ve collected a few data sources that I’ve come across during my initial research. Please start exploring! I look forward to seeing what you find.
- Kaggle's 2017 State of Data Science Survey and Kaggle's 2018 State of Data Science Survey are both fascinating data sets that ask questions about the type of work data scientists do today.
- The Digest of Education Statistics can be used to help characterize education pipelines.
- The Bureau of Labor Statistics is a great resource for pay and industry data.
- Open-source Python code for a gender decoder is posted on GitHub. It might be interesting to use to explore job postings at your own company.
