Hi from Data+Women+Triangle. We are an in-person meeting group now 2 years old. On Monday, two of members gave presentations: one about R, and one about Alteryx. Although we had 25 RSVPs, only 9 attended. Usually our hit rate for actually attendees is 50% of RSVPs. We always meet on the last reasonable Monday of the month. I hope this consistency serves as a mental reminder, on top of our technology to tell us when and where to be.
For a meeting tip, I am attaching the Update Exercise from LeanIn.org. Our ritual for every meeting is to go around the room and have every woman cover the eight bullet points suggested by the handout (what is the worst/best professional/personal thing about your life last/next month). We find that this "structured socialization," month after month, helps the women get to know one another more deeply faster.
