This week is part 1 of the challenge “Blowing in the wind”.
On December 30, 2021, a windstorm moved through some of the Front Range counties of Colorado. One Alteryx associate found herself driving back home in the storm and being “blown in the wind”. And she got the idea for a two parts challenge.
The dataset comes from the US National Weather Service, and it recorded the maximum wind speeds at several locations.
Use the dataset to:
- Find the county, location with the maximum highest wind speed at a given time
- Rank the counties by average highest wind speed
- Determine if the average highest wind speeds were before Noon or after Noon
First, prepare and the parse the provided input string into separate columns.
Note: you only need to parse up to the time.
Fun data parse challenge!
