Well, I thought that since the individual observations depended on each other, the "Multi-Row Formula" tool would be appropriate. Makes for a hefty if-then formula though!
I hadn't used the Multi-Row tool before, so it was a good learning experience. It helps avoid a transposition later, but does require very careful attention to the row order (inputted names manually and then assigned Date of Birth through the Multi-Row tool). Once I got my arms around that, the DateTime work was yet another challenge! Learned a LOT on this one!!
