Zip codes were created in 1963 to help the United States Postal Service process mail based on the parcel’s intended destination. The codes consist of 5 digits; the first 3 of which determine the sorting center that receives the parcel. While the zip codes help to organize mail delivery, they are not necessarily aligned to geographic boundaries such as state or cities.
For this week's challenge, we have 2 datasets: The first lists some classifications (Assignments) which are intended for specific areas. These assignments can be consistent for an entire state, or only apply to specific zip codes within a state (or territory). The other dataset is a listing of all 42,004 zip codes for the United States and its territories. Your job is to produce the correct “assignment” for each of 42,0004 the zip codes.
