I was initially stumped by this but found I was creating 24 nearly linear triangles. Not sure if this was due to a rounding error in my method or imprecision in the coordinates, but filtering on surface area >.1 miles eliminated these and got me the correct total.

Interesting Challenge. I do not have the inclination to count 516 though
