I found Mastering the Network Analysis Tool in Alteryx  by @johnemery extremely helpful for this challenge! Good read, five stars!

After the US domestic flights, I tried out Italian domestic flights too as it's an smaller subset of data. I added looked up the Region per city to play with the color groupings and played with dot sizing too. Here's what that portion looks like with notes:
