not very dynamic but a fun concept of a challenge. Spent the whole budget and got 669 challenges worth of talent

Tried to use a macro - failed. Multi-row formula tool to the rescue!

I'm keeping myself honest by submitting an answer before checking how everyone else did it!

challenge-111-results-ap.pngchallenge-111-ap.pngThis answer *works* but it's fragile. If it didn't find a good combo on the first try, it wouldn't have worked!

Woof, third time's the charm! Thanks to @alisonpitt and @mgaronson on giving me an extra hint/inspiration for attempt #3.

Spoiler

Attempt #1 - This one didn't work! My instinct was to produce all combinations of 8, but Alteryx was not a fan of the brute force method.

Attempt #2 - This one's my favorite dream team because it has MarqueeCrew in it! #blatantfavoritism

Attempt #3 - Eeked our a few more challenges with help from a couple friends. I bet with more work, I could get a few more challenges, but I gotta work on doing more challenges so I can be on a dream team someday :D

Not the most dynamic solution. I basically did manually what the multirow could've achieved. That said, it could've been made more dynamic if I shared the running total data with my second stream to determine how much I could pay for the last person. Similarly, I could've filtered using the running total data as opposed to just sampling based off of what I was seeing.

A neat challenge, thank you, @JoeM!

I went with the same approach as @kat  by getting the cost per challenge ascending in compiling the top 8 members of the dream team.
