My solution.

Solved, great challenge! I think my result was about .2 seconds different from the answer.

Assumptions:

  • Start on question card
  • 1 sec pause on each card
  • Duplicate cards get a 360 rotation to differentiate
  • Included punctuation and whitespace (would be MUCH more efficient to exclude)

Matt had to wait a little bit longer.

I didn't get the right answer until I added a tool to select only the first 54 records after the Tokenize step off of the Response table (to delete the last period).  After doing that, the answers matched.

cool exercise. not sure i'm in line completely with the overall seconds (off by 30 seconds - possibly rounding issue?), but i stand by my logic.

I made the assumption that the rover could spin in both directions, and therefore took the shortest possible distance between each card - but had to simplify this logic to match the provided solution

Love the movie and a great question to solve. Not exactly matching the solution provided, but used assumption below

1. Space is included in the transmission

2. 1 second pause on every HEX digit

3. Moving the shortest angle
