A very good challenge to see how you can build an analytics app.

Did I ever mention I hate manually populate list boxes.

Here is my solution to the challenge. It doesn't require manually populating the drop down 🙂

This was the first time that I was dealing with the Alteryx app. The way I tackled the problem is:

  1. First I saw videos provided by Alteryx over the subject.
  2. Then I opened a few examples and saw the workflow.
  3. Then got my hands dirty by solving the challenge.

I came up with a solution where the dropdown is fed by data instead of manually inserting the values.

Finally realised that you can view the output in a browse tool in an app.

1. Open interface designer.

2. Go to properties.

3. In "Open FilesFrom These Tools", tick your output browse tool.

Help, please.  I'm out of my depth on this one.  I was trying to create a solution that dynamically creates a list of Job Codes for the Drop Down Tool and then used the input to update a filter directly... but I couldn't get it to work.  Can anyone here help me understand where I'm going wrong?  Also, how do I "build" this so I can see the selection interface to make a selection?  Please see the workflow attached.

I'm not sure if I got it working... found an old youtube video of an older version of Designer showing how to run as analytics app... so I configured mine similarly... but I can't find how to run as an analytics app in the current version of Designer.  I see in the Workflow settings Type is set to Analytics App... but no dialogue is presented from the Drop Down Tool... this is the same for the solution workflow as well.

Any help is much appreciated.
