Reversed engineered to understand the process. Many new challenges, really fun!
Harder many new tools for me
I decided to put a circle around the golden dome at Notre Dame! My points were a little off thanks to 100 points not being divisible by 16...
My solution(s). A similar image can be be output using the report map tool
Fun Challenge! Way over geeked out on this.
Tried one solution using breaking a circle into points, wasn't satisfied. Then worked on it and learned a new tool, the Spatial 'Generalize' tool (included a separate container of Generalize values for those who haven't used it before), but wasn't satisfied that was giving me a perfect enough circle, it kind of looks like a lemon. (I included my flow & results below). Next was a table approach with each of the points, but I didn't feel like filling in a table, so, I created a flow where you just type in 1 line in a text box and it created the whole table and all .... PERFECT 16 pt circle, PERFECT flow result for challenge .... but wait, there's more.
For those of you who are still reading, BONUS, I expanded that concept to create a MACRO that can now create a perfect circle with exactly how many points you like. I've tested with it from 4 to 720 (one point per 1/2 degree). ENJOY.
Solution 1: Generalize
Solution 2: Generate Circle Slices
Bonus Section: Macro - Generate Circle With Desired number of points
PS - if you like it or decide to grab the macro, please give a thumbs and/or leave a reply. 😁 thx
