SUBMIT YOUR IDEA@TH, isn't that what the join tool does?
base = {A,B,C,D,E,F,G} is the Left input
substract = {B,D,G} is the right input
The elements that are in the base list that aren't in the subtract list would be the Left output of the join tool.
Is that not what you're suggesting in your comments?

Using a regular join does require a specific setup/configuration of the input sets and the tools involved, but that's what I wanted.
I learned a new way to think about something today.
should've put the regex earlier in the workflow, but what can you do.
