good to think of multiple ways to do the same thing.  Usually just glad to get to ONE solution, but i can see how one approach might work better in one set of circumstances and another might be easier to hook into, given a slightly different starting point.  At this point in my learning curve, i'm not always sure i know how to recognise which pattern is going to work best/most efficiently.
