A very interesting challenge and this is very useful for people that are dealing with sensitive data. Thank you @Qiu for this challenge!

Hi! Here my solution 🙂

How to do it as a Beginner?

  • Going back to excel - RAND function is the only potential saviour, given Random % tool doesn't have group by capabilities and sample tool fails to work on 1 in every N chance when grouping is done
  • All possible combinations - like always, append fields to rescue
  • Data Governance: this is a very important matter especially while sanitising data for using models across clients/projects

Not the best solution maybe....

Not sure if this is the best way... There would be easier ways with no lookup tables

I'm still a little confused by this challenge so I went with a solution that made sense to me. Why do the replacement lists have fewer options than the number of clients and cities? For example, in the provided outputs, both cities A3 and A4 are both changed to Random City1 so how would I ever work backward to figure out what their original values were? I'm sure I'm overthinking it.

Different approach from the intended solution but gets the job done
