Very fun spatial challenge!

I had problems with some of the shapes until I realized it was the Earth's shadow I was cutting from the moon which may be larger.  So experimented with radius and here is what I came up with.  Also a bit messy workflow as I did each spatial process one at a time.

These challenges seem to be coming in the week after I do something very similar. Love utilizing the spatial tools! See spoiler for details.

The week before this came out I was having a go at modifying state polygons, particularly Alaska because it uses both sides of the world map and I needed to isolate the state to overlay it elsewhere. I used a similar method for the half moons in this challenge by splitting the polygon to points, using a browse to identify the points I wanted to keep and then sampling or filtering before rebuilding the sequence polygon.

The other four phases were done by translation and for the gibbous, additionally dilation, then using the spatial process tool to cut or intersect.

Tried two approaches... one using a sine function to model the 'altered' portion of each moon phase, and a second using the spatial process tool to 'cut out' the proper shape for each phase. approach 2 was closer to the provided output for the challenge.
