I learned something interesting. If I use a formula tool to make a mathematical calculation on two numeric fields, the output (in a new column) default is string! Doesn't make sense to me as a default, and it caused an error in my sampling at the end. I advocate change. 'Avocadoate' change? My puns are getting worse.
I know this isn't the most elegant (or efficient ?) way to do this, but here's my brute force attempt. It does work.
