I'm curious how others identified the last names! I'm sure there is a lot of variety.

I went back and forth on doing all the string manipulations in one complex formula, or lots of steps in a single formula, or lots of separate formula tools. The issue is clarity and documentability. In the end I went with one tool, erring to use lots of steps and commenting each clearly
