Like a good detective, when I discovered that my results were different than the provided solution, I did a bit of investigation to figure out how I was defining this differently so that I could get to the same answer... and then I also provided what I believe to be a "better" one in the context of "what makes a word".

The solution that matches: Key to getting it to match was to parse on alllll the punctuation markers, and to define a "word" as basically anything that wasn't punctuation.

The solution that feels more accurate to me: Parse on all punctuation except single quote (to keep "words" like isn't, won't, etc.)... and then filter out anything that is left that does not contain letters. I also put all remaining words in lowercase so that The and the would be counted as the same word. Smaller list of words, but they feel more like "words" so I liked this result better 🙂

Solution is slightly different due to ignoring case

I downloaded file directly, removed all punctuation, and ignored case.  Caching made this way easier to work with.  I also got different totals than the answer, but the words appear to be the same.

Got different answers but my attempt nonetheless

numbers are slightly off but the number of total words matches the output. I changed everything to the same case so that could be part of the issue. Opted for the ultra simplistic tokenize ever words to row solution...

With text2columns I got similar results.

Solution attached.

My file provides two different solutions, one that matches numbers in the Solution and one that calculates the percentages when numbers aren't counted as words.

Are numbers words?
