Clever parse syntax- "d/-Mon.-yy" where every character matters.

Remembering to replace with " " did the trick.  Originally I just did the new line "/n" and didn't replace with anything.

I usually just use the REGEX_ and DateTime_ functions in a Formula tool but here I used the RegEx and DateTime tools from the Parse palette.
