Got to use Running Totals! I usually forget about this tool and use the multi-row formula tool. Running totals was perfect for this challenge.

couldn't get the numbers to match up perfectly. But the logic seems to be there.
from the comments I think it comes from needing to generate rows from this start date provided by a comment: 2017-10-01
