Interested challenge!! Please find the solution.
I looked up the solution provided and realized that I arrived at the solution in somewhat different manner. This might seem oversimplified but gets the work done. However, after going through the solution provided, I learnt a lot about certain tools which I had never used in my workflows (Transpose, Multirow Formula etc.). This helped me in reviewing these tools and hopefully using them in upcoming challenges to simplify the analysis. Thanks for an engaging challenge!!
*Spoiler*
-Once you are able to sort the data by Year and Top Frequencies by Male & Female, the next challenge is to convert the data such that a single row shows Name & Frequency of both Male & Female category, instead of 1 row for Male & 1 row for Female.
-In order to tackle this, we can use Select tool multiple times.
- First I sample my data for all female records by using '1 of every N rows' option under 'Select sample type'. Here N=2 and therefore the resulting table skips alternate entries of Male and final result shows only female entries for all years.
-Next, I use the Select tool and use' Skip first N rows' , where N=1. Then the previous step is repeated and resulting table will have Male entries for all years.
- Next you need to Join both data using JOIN Tool (year being the specific field) and the resulting table gives the final result.
Hope you found the solution useful! Thanks!
