I day trade, sometimes 100 trades a day for over a year. I'd like to pitch my historic trading data against the corresponding indices when the trades happened. Anyone has done this before?

Yes you can do this via API structure which calls on historic data on Quandl. There are some nice blog posts on this topic. See links below:
