Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC) is recruiting for a Senior Tax Analyst. This position assists with a broad range of tax compliance, analysis, and planning responsibilities in compliance with the laws of the applicable federal, state, and local taxing authorities and in accordance with the policies and procedures of BBNC. 
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Gather and analyze accounting and tax information needed to assist in the preparation of annual income tax provision in accordance with the requirements under ASC 740 for annual financial statement audit. This includes the analysis of tax accounts, the determination of material book/tax differences, the determination of related deferred tax activity, and the preparation of adjusting journal entries.
  • Gather and analyze accounting and tax information needed to prepare supporting tax workpapers in the preparation of the U.S. consolidated corporate income tax returns and all corresponding state and local returns. This includes analysis of book/tax differences and review of prior year workpapers.
  • Maintain tax calendar, oversee the processing and filing of tax estimates, payments and returns to ensure timely compliance. 
  • Maintain tax records and coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate preparation all Federal and state corporate, partnership, trust and foundation tax returns, quarterly estimated tax payments and extensions.
  • Research and analyze tax inquiries and provide sound and logical written conclusions of the findings.
  • Gather and analyze information and provide adequate and timely responses to all taxing authority notices and examinations. Maintain tax notices log.
  •  Assist with US federal income tax audits, appeals of tax assessments, and responses to information requests and notices received from the Internal Revenue Service.
  • Lead the ongoing review and reconciliation of fixed assets and related depreciation for US federal income tax purposes. 
  • Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries for tax related accounts and provide support to business units with proper recording of tax-related transactions.
  • Communicate and develop relationships with business operations, accounting, legal, People and IT teams as well as outside consultants. Coordinate and interface with accounting teams at the parent and subsidiary levels in data collection for support of tax returns, tax provisions, and other special projects. 
  • Evaluate existing processes and practices, suggest process improvements, and assist with implementation. 
  • Prepare and maintain capital account and tax basis calculations for partnerships and joint ventures. 
  • Assist with other administrative projects as assigned and perform ad hoc duties, as necessary.
Essential Skills:
  • Working knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code and Regulations and tax research skills required.
  • Income Tax Provision (ASC 740) experience. 
  • Efficiently handle multiple assignments and projects simultaneously. Ability to work with personnel from numerous departments and subsidiary companies at all seniority levels. 
  • Excellent communication, organization, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with OneSource Tax Provision, OneSource Income Tax, SAGE Fixed Assets, and Alteryx preferred. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Alaska Native Corporations and the Bristol Bay region.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of corporate tax experience in a large corporation or public accounting firm required. 
Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university (Masters in Taxation a plus).
  • CPA preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent sitting and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Work performed in a professional office environment.
  • Occasional travel to subsidiary office and jobs sites located throughout the United States.  Occasional travel to remote locations in small aircraft.
