Welcome Rochester Alteryx Users!

Alteryx Partner

Welcome to the Alteryx User Group for Rochester, NY and the surrounding area.

I'm excited to get this community up and running so we can all meet and share ideas. Please take a moment to answer these questions so we can get to know one another.

1. What is your name, and what industry do you work in?

2. What was your Alteryx WOW moment (the moment you realized how awesome and powerful Alteryx is)?

3. What are you looking to get out this user group? Is there something in particular you'd like to learn, any areas where you want to advance your skills, or are you just excited to network with other Alteryx users?

1)  Larry Miller/Financial Service Industry

2)  I was "Wow-ed" within the first 10 minutes of the minutes of downloading the trial.  Both the ease of use and options for controlling diverse data made it not only simple to use, but also fun to use.

3)  Just looking to meet other users and pick up some tips and tricks.

Hello ksnyder et. al. :)

Mike Barone here, Paychex, Inc. (a human capital management company).  My WOW moment was within the first 5 minutes of downloading the trial.  A cross-tab query that took 40 minutes in MS Access completed  in 5 seconds with Alteryx.  I'm looking forward to meeting, networking, learning, and sharing with local users.

1. Matt Agone - Financial Services Industry

2. I came to a realization early on that I was spending almost all of my time solving the problems of what to do with the data, and not trying to figure out how to do it like I was with many other products. In other words, I'm on stack overflow a LOT less.

3. I'd like to see how other groups use Alteryx, especially if they have it embedded in business processes. I'm also interested in knowing how other companies are adopting the technology.

1. What is your name, and what industry do you work in?  Pepper (or Carla)/Telecommunication

2. What was your Alteryx WOW moment (the moment you realized how awesome and powerful Alteryx is)? Using Gallery Apps AND automating a report in less then 5 minutes

3. What are you looking to get out this user group? Is there something in particular you'd like to learn, any areas where you want to advance your skills, or are you just excited to network with other Alteryx users? I just happy this has been started.  Thanks for doing. I want to advance my skills and learn new things with Alteryx.  I am currently working on (trying to conquer) SharePoint Lists / URL connectors / PostGreSQL.

Welcome @Pepper! That is a great WOW moment! There is no better feeling than finishing up a workflow quickly. :)

I'm very excited about a local user group!

1. What is your name, and what industry do you work in?  Deb Hodgeman - Monroe County Office of Mental Health

2. What was your Alteryx WOW moment (the moment you realized how awesome and powerful Alteryx is)?  Ease of use was a big factor for me - came up to speed very quickly.  But probably really was excited when I created a workflow to combine over 300 files into a single data source for a Tableau dashboard that take me 2 minutes to run.

3. What are you looking to get out this user group? Is there something in particular you'd like to learn, any areas where you want to advance your skills, or are you just excited to network with other Alteryx users?  I'm interested in seeing how other industries use the tool.   I know we could push it further to increase efficiencies and consolidate more data sources for our office.

Will there be local meetups?

I have a question, has any used the SharePoint List Input Connector successfully?  Also, has anyone successfully used the Connector Download tool successfully?  Thanks.

Hi @Pepper, yes there will be local in person meet ups. We are currently starting to plan the first meeting for September. Would you be interested in helping to coordinate that? And anyone else on this thread is also welcome to join!

That is a great question you have on the SharePoint List Input Connector.  Thank you for asking on the User Group pages, that is exactly the kind of messages we like to see on here!
