Struggling with OAUTH2 problem

Morning folks

I am struggling with a piece of dev work to connect to third party software using OAUTH2 and am after some help.

Just wondering if someone (who will undoubtedly much cleverer than me) would be willing to help me understand what I am supposed to be doing. I have built in a bunch of API calls into various workflows and I already  understand them to a basic level but I can't get my head around this authorisation piece.

I have looked through the help pages and they look like they should be able to help but I can't translate what they say to what I am hoping to do.
