Hi New Zealand User Group members,
In anticipation of the upcoming second edition of the Weekly Challenge User Group October Takeover, Academy is taking over your User Group board for a moment!
The following are some of the benefits for you and your group through your participation in the October Takeover:
Increased Engagement: Boost interaction and participation within user groups through exciting Weekly Challenges.
Community Building: Strengthen community bonds by encouraging members to collaborate and share their solutions to the challenges.
Visibility and Recognition: Gain exposure and recognition for your user group by showcasing your activities to a broader audience.
Skill Development: Provide members with opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge through practical challenges.
Networking Opportunities: Connect with other user groups, fostering a collaborative environment and exchange of ideas.
It doesn't matter whether you are a beginner or an advanced user of Designer; what truly matters is your creativity and the great ideas you submit!
Submit your Weekly Challenge idea by September 6. If your idea is selected, it will be published, and you will receive a prize. The author of the best challenge will win the grand prize. Additionally, the authors of Weekly Challenges from the User Group that submits the most challenges for the October Takeover will all receive a special prize from the User Group Program Team!
Please refer to the attached document for submission details, evaluation criteria, and prize information.
Last year’s October Takeover was a great success, and we received many fantastic ideas.
Our four finalists were:
Ippei Nakagawa @gawa: Tokyo User Group; Challenge #391: Which Combinations of Pokémon Types Do Not Exist?
Charity Wilson @Charity_K_Wilson: Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas User Group; Challenge 392: Calculate Climate Extremes
Mya Starling @myastarling: Milwaukee User Group; Challenge 393: Find the Best Yarn
Talia Sanders @tsand22: Indianapolis User Group; Challenge 394: Fantasy Football Team
The big winner was @gawa who received 72 responses within the first week of posting his challenge, and over time, it accumulated around 150 responses. Check out his fantastic challenge for some inspiration!
Please contact us at academy@alteryx.com if you have any questions.
We are excited to review the innovative and creative challenges you submit. Let's make this year's Weekly Challenge User Group October Takeover even more fun and successful than the last!
Happy creating!
Sylvia

Hope everyone's year is going well! You may have noticed we didn't have a Q2 User Group meeting for 2024. With our recent fond goodbyes to NZ User Group Leaders Jacob Bichachi, who moved back to the US, and Uday Wadhwani, who moved to Melbourne, we're looking for some fresh energy and faces for our NZ User Group Leaders. Are you passionate about solving problems with Alteryx and creating a world with democratized data and analytics? Do you live in either Auckland or Wellington and have the ability to host a User Group meeting at your workplace or the commitment to finding a shared space to organize meetings (a small budget is provided by Alteryx). If so please reach out and I'll be happy to discuss the awesome experience of getting involved with the Alteryx community!

Hey NZ Maveryx Community! I'm Cheryl from our Alteryx SparkED team in APAC & I support schools (e.g. Auckland Uni of Technology, Uni of Otago, Unitec etc) to teach and learn analytics (for free!) + to connect hiring managers to awesome analytics talent! I'm looking for as many volunteers as possible who are able and passionate about providing advice and support in any of these areas, please don't hesitate to reach out here (or on LinkedIn) if you're interested. - Curriculum Support/Advice: Lecturers are often curious about Alteryx but they have no idea how it applies to their courses [e.g. Supply Chain Analytics, Company Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Risk Analytics, Big Data Analytics, etc] If you're open to provide sample Alteryx workflows (with no confidential data, of course), or contribute to capstone projects (e.g. real life industry problems for students to solve), or advise lecturers how/which topics could Alteryx be exemplified easily, we can help to close the gap between industry and academia 😊 - Guest Lectures/Workshops: Sometimes, lecturers are keen to host a short guest speaking segment (online/in-person) in their lessons and this allows you to share your professional insights directly with students. There are also equal opportunities to run short workshops as a great hands-on way to introduce students to Alteryx. I can provide you with sample student workshop datasets to work with, or you can also guide them through a fun Alteryx Weekly Challenge. And of course, if you're connected with your alma mater & keen to introduce Alteryx, I'm always happy to help explore and start the Alteryx teaching (+learning) journey. Thank you & excited to have you supporting the next gen of Maveryx in NZ!
