A big thank you to all those that attended the last London user group. It was great to see a mixture of old and new faces, some from nearby and some from far away. This time we set up base in the fantastic Javelin offices in Barbican and there was plenty of beer and pizza to go around – multiple times :)
Ben Moss, Peter Gamble-Beresford & Philip Mannering – Consulting Analysts at The Information Lab
Ben and Peter enjoyed being guest speakers at our last user group so much that they couldn’t resist stepping back on stage, but this time they brought a friend.
Ben, Peter and Philip wowed us with their Alteryx skills and let us play a game they had created and presented at Alteryx Inspire US. An evil villain had kidnapped one of our beloved Disney heroes and with only 45 minutes to spare we had to use Alteryx to solve encrypted clues and puzzles, leading us to Disney glory and the rescue of that hero. As if this wasn’t enough excitement, Alteryx gifted 5 free passes to Inspire Europe to our lucky winners.
If this sounds like your kind of fun then keep an eye out for these three at Inspire Europe in October where they will be dazzling us one more time with a murder mystery adventure!
Paul Houghton - Consultant at The Information Lab
Paul introduced us to the Time Series Factory, which is made up of the following 3 different macros that can all be found under the Predictive District on the Alteryx Gallery:
TS Forecast Factory
TS Factory Sample
TS Factory Model
Although Alteryx offers a built in tool which creates a forecast, these macros allow you to create a forecast at a more granular level. For example, if you wanted a forecast for multiple different items in one store the TS Factory macros would be able to handle this whereas the default forecast tool in Alteryx would not. Check out Paul’s attached workflow for more information.
As always, if you are interested in speaking or hosting an event in the future, please feel free to get in touch with a member of the London User Group Committee.
With only 24 days to Inspire Europe, the countdown has officially begun. See you there!
