We were recently notified that the Virtual Variable Files (VVF) for Experian US - Total Consumer Expenditure (ALTERYX_US_17A_CAPE_ConsumerExpenditureTotal_2022A_22A.vvf) and Five Year Projections Total Consumer Expenditure (ALTERYX_US_17A_CAPE_CEX_FiveYearProjections_Total_2022A_22A) contain duplicate variable references within formulas for the Q2 2022 and Q3 2022 US Business Insights data packages. After confirming the duplicates were present we have updated the files to remove the duplicated references and investigated the initial cause of these errors. Unfortunately the files will need to be updated for those who have installed these packages and are using these variables.

While this is an unfortunate inconvenience for users there are two ways to update the files:

Option 1 is to download and reinstall the latest latest version of the Q3 2022 US Business Insights data package. This would be the most straightforward method.

Option 2 is to copy an updated version of the files into their installed data location and restarting Designer, since Virtual Variables Files (VVF) are referenced at runtime by Allocate and Designer. Users who simply want to copy and paste the updated files can follow these instructions:

  1. Obtain the updated versions of the VVF files provided by Data Products via SFTP: Experian_2022A_Data

  2. Find the configuration file (DataProducts.ini) typically found in: "C:\ProgramData\Alteryx\DataProducts\DataProducts.ini"

  3. Open the file to identify where the data is installed for the US Business Insights (i.e. DefaultInstallPath=C:\ProgramData\Alteryx\SRCDataManager)

  4. Navigate to the listed DefaultInstallPath and find the Portfolio folder

  5. Navigate to the folder for the desired US_Experian installed data and find the VirtualVars folder containing the VVF files (i.e. C:\ProgramData\Alteryx\SRCDataManager\Portfolio\ALTERYX_US_Experian_22A_22B\VirtualVars)

  6. Paste the updated versions of the files in this location, overwriting the previously installed files.

  7. Restart Designer.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are implementing additional quality checks to verify the files are accurate for subsequent releases.
