COVID19 R0 (Basic reproduction number)

Hello,

I a m a new bee to this community with a Data visualisation (Tableau background)..

Was wondering if any body gave a shot at the R0 Covid19 vaue calculation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_reproduction_number

R0:"In epidemiology, the basic reproduction number (sometimes called basic reproductive ratio, or incorrectly basic reproductive rate, and denoted R0, pronounced R nought or R zero[16]) of an infection can be thought of as the expected number of cases directly generated by one case in a population where all individuals are susceptible to infection."

I found some ressources that I think can help such as this R package : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23249562

But I am not confident enough to start it in my own ....
Did anybody worked on this or interested to cooperate ?

Thank you

Hey @nmajoul, welcome to the Community! This is such a fascinating area to explore. You might like to check out some of the R packages developed more recently by the R Epidemics Consortium, which include a couple of packages related to the estimation of some of these epidemic parameters like the R0. You can use these packages in conjunction with an R Tool in Designer to do some experimentation. Here's a cheat sheet for the R Tool you might find helpful.

You might also enjoy reading this article I wrote on our Data Science Blog about some interesting techniques people are using to explore the pandemic data. And -- watch that space, because we should have another article there soon about epidemiology and data science!
